Quick answer

What is the most visited website in Iraq?

Google is the most visited website in Iraq, with 150 million visits in July 2026 (Semrush), followed by YouTube at 97.49 million. The row worth noticing is third: ChatGPT draws 19.85 million monthly visits, placing it above Facebook and giving Iraq the highest AI-assistant rank of the three markets Ijjad tracks.

TL;DR

  • • Google takes 150M monthly visits from Iraq, YouTube 97.49M (Semrush, July 2026).
  • • ChatGPT ranks third, above Facebook, and Claude ranks seventeenth. No other market Ijjad tracks puts an assistant that high.
  • • Google draws about 3.8 visits per Iraqi internet user per month, against roughly 7 in Jordan and 21 in Saudi Arabia.
  • • On organic search, three Arabic-first properties reach the top ten: 365scores, altibbi and kooora.
  • • 39.6 million Iraqis are online, 83.8% of the population, with a median age of 20.8 (DataReportal, Digital 2026).

Lists of the most visited websites in Iraq are auto-generated tables from SEO tools. The numbers are real and nobody reads them closely. This page publishes the July 2026 top 20 with visit counts, then does the part the tool pages skip: what the ranking says about how Iraqis use the internet, and what a business in Baghdad, Erbil or Basra should take from it.

The core data comes from Semrush's Iraq trending-websites ranking (July 2026 data, retrieved 2 September 2026), cross-checked against Ahrefs' Iraq ranking (August 2026, organic-search metric) and DataReportal's Digital 2026: Iraq report. All three are panel and crawl estimates rather than server logs.

Source: Semrush Trending Websites, Iraq, July 2026 data, retrieved 2 September 2026. Visits are clickstream estimates of total site visits from Iraq across desktop and mobile web. We withheld the adult domain's name as an editorial choice; its row and traffic are reported as published. On shabakaty.com we are being deliberately careful: the domain ranks ninth in the data, and the site did not respond when we tried to open it on 2 September 2026, so we are not describing a service we could not load.

Scale first. Against 39.6 million internet users, Google's 150M visits work out at roughly 3.8 visits per Iraqi internet user per month. Jordan runs at about seven and Saudi Arabia at about twenty-one on the same calculation. Iraqis use the open web heavily, but they reach for Google far less often per head than their neighbours do.

ChatGPT ranks third, above Facebook

This is the row that makes the Iraqi list different from every other market we track. ChatGPT takes 19.85M monthly visits and sits third, ahead of Facebook. Claude adds 4.64M at seventeenth. Two assistants sit inside the top twenty.

For comparison, ChatGPT ranks fifth in Jordan and thirteenth in Saudi Arabia. Iraq is the outlier, and the low Google-visits-per-user figure sits alongside it. The honest reading is that these two facts are consistent with Iraqi users answering more questions through an assistant and fewer through a search box, but a traffic ranking cannot prove causation. Treat it as a strong signal to plan against rather than a finding.

The practical consequence does not depend on the explanation. When an assistant with 19.85M monthly Iraqi visits answers a buying question by citing a handful of sources, being one of those sources is the position that matters. That is a different discipline from classic ranking, and we have written it up in answer engine optimization for Jordanian and Saudi businesses, which applies directly here.

The organic-search ranking is a different list

Ahrefs publishes an Iraq ranking built on organic search traffic only, and it reorders almost everything: Apple first, Wikipedia third, Google only fifth.

#WebsiteOrganic trafficWhy it ranks
1apple.com11.8MDevice and support pages rank widely
2youtube.com7.7MVideo pages rank for queries

8365scores.com3.3MLive sports scores
9altibbi.com2.5MArabic telemedicine and medical reference
10kooora.com1.8MArabic football portal

Source: Ahrefs public Iraq ranking, August 2026, estimated monthly organic search visits. One adult domain in this table is unnamed for the same editorial reason as above; a tool summary described it as a finance site, and opening it showed otherwise, which is why we check every row rather than repeat a description.

The two lists disagree because they count different things. Semrush estimates every arrival, including app links, bookmarks, direct visits. Ahrefs counts only visits that began with a search. Google leads one and sits fifth in the other for exactly that reason, and Wikipedia leads the organic list while missing the total-visits top 20 entirely.

What the two lists say about the Iraqi internet

Arabic publishers hold real organic ground. Three Arabic-first properties reach the organic top ten: 365scores for live sports scores, altibbi for medical consultations and reference, and kooora for football. Saudi Arabia has one local property that high, and Jordan has none. If you publish useful Arabic content for an Iraqi audience, the ranking evidence says there is room.

The list is unusually clean. One adult domain appears in the Iraqi top 20. The Saudi equivalent carries nine unlicensed streaming, manga-scan and adult rows. For anyone planning media, the Iraqi ranking needs far less filtering before it is usable.

There is a visible technical audience. GitHub thirteenth, Discord fifteenth, Telegram sixteenth, Microsoft nineteenth and Twitch twentieth. That cluster does not appear in the Jordanian or Saudi top 20, and it matches the youngest median age of the three markets at 20.8 years.

Iraq has not finished coming online. Internet penetration is 83.8%, against 92.5% in Jordan and 99.0% in Saudi Arabia. There are 50.8 million mobile connections for 47.3 million people. Ad reach runs to 24.7M on YouTube, 21.5M on Instagram and 20.8M on Facebook. DataReportal's TikTok figure of 40.1 million adults exceeds the adult population, an anomaly the report flags itself, so read platform ad reach as a planning estimate rather than a count of people.

What this means if you sell in Iraq

Iraq is the market where Ijjad currently holds its strongest search positions, and the data above explains why that is worth defending. The competition for Arabic organic results is thinner than in Saudi Arabia, and the audience is young, mobile and still growing.

Two decisions follow. The first is ordinary and unavoidable: rank for what your buyers search, on a site that loads on a mid-range Android over a patchy connection and reads properly in Arabic, and in Kurdish where the Kurdistan Region is part of your market. That is the standard behind our web design work in Iraq and our Iraq SEO services.

The second is specific to this market. With an assistant sitting third in national traffic, being quotable is not a future project in Iraq; it is a present one. Publish the facts a buyer needs as plain sentences with sources attached, because that is the shape an assistant can lift.

The usual caveat applies. A national ranking measures attention in aggregate, and your buyers may sit in a much smaller pool than it. A supplier in Basra will get more from thirty qualified enquiries than from thirty thousand impressions. The same exercise for the neighbouring markets is in most visited websites in Saudi Arabia and most visited websites in Jordan, and the three answers are not the same.

Method and limitations

The ranked table reproduces Semrush's Iraq trending-websites data for July 2026, retrieved on 2 September 2026. Cross-checks use the Ahrefs public Iraq ranking (August 2026, organic-search metric) and DataReportal's Digital 2026: Iraq report, published November 2025 with data collected in October 2025. The rankings cover different months, so small movements between them are not comparable. Every non-obvious domain in both tables was opened and checked rather than described from its name: one row commonly summarised as a finance site turned out to be an adult site, and one row we could not load at all is labelled as unverified rather than guessed. All figures are third-party estimates, not audited server logs, and gaps between adjacent rows are often inside the margin of error. This page carries no Ijjad first-party data.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most visited website in Iraq?

Google.com, with an estimated 150 million visits from Iraq in July 2026 (Semrush Trending Websites), followed by YouTube at 97.49 million. The notable row is third: ChatGPT, at 19.85 million monthly visits, ranks above Facebook.

How many people in Iraq are online?

DataReportal’s Digital 2026: Iraq report puts internet users at 39.6 million, or 83.8% of a population of 47.3 million, with 50.8 million mobile connections and a median age of 20.8. Iraq is the least saturated of the three markets Ijjad works in, so some audience growth still comes from people coming online for the first time.

Why does ChatGPT rank so highly in Iraq?

The data shows the rank, not the reason, so treat any explanation as a hypothesis. What the numbers do support: ChatGPT sits third on total visits and Claude sits seventeenth, while Google draws about 3.8 visits per internet user per month in Iraq against roughly 21 in Saudi Arabia. Iraqi users lean on assistants more, and on search less per head, than either neighbouring market.

Do Arabic-language sites rank in Iraq?

More than in Jordan or Saudi Arabia. On organic search, three Arabic-first regional properties sit in the top ten: 365scores for live sports scores, altibbi for medical consultations and reference, and kooora for football. Arabic publishers hold real organic ground in Iraq.

Is the Iraqi top 20 brand-safe for advertising?

More so than the Saudi equivalent. One adult domain appears in the Iraqi top 20, against nine unlicensed streaming, manga-scan and adult rows in Saudi Arabia. The rest of the Iraqi list is mainstream platforms, developer tools and messaging apps.
